What Is The Principle of The Glass Fiber Melting Process?

The so-called glass melting process refers to the process of reacting and melting of the compound into a homogeneous glass solution through silicate reaction at high temperatures. The so-called melting refers to the process of solid-phase fusion after the reaction with the material; clarification refers to the process of eliminating air bubbles from the molten glass; and homogenization refers to the line, stripes, and knots and other defects are reduced to a permissible level of the process, but also to the process of homogenization of the chemical composition of the glass. These processes are carried out in stages.

From the heating of the compound to the melting of the glass liquid, it can often be divided into several stages according to the different substance of the melting process.

① silicate formation phase with the material into the kiln, after a series of physical and chemical changes in the heat process, the solid-phase reaction between the components, the volatilization of adsorbed water, dehydration of water of crystallization, thermal decomposition of carbonates, the release of a large number of gases, with the material into a sintered material consisting of silicate and SiO, for the ordinary soda-calcium silica glass, about 800 ~ 900 ℃ end.

② Glass Formation Stage Due to continued heating, the sintered material starts to melt, and the first to melt is the low-melting mixture. At the same time, the silica-oxygen and silicate melt each other, and at the end of this stage, the sintered material becomes transparent. No longer have not reacted with the material particles, but at this time the glass liquid with a large number of bubbles, streaks, in the chemical composition of the glass liquid is not uniform. For ordinary soda-lime glass, about 1200 ℃. Boron-aluminum silicate glass is about 1400 ℃ or more.

③ Clarification stage of the glass continue to heat up, the viscosity of the glass liquid is reduced, the glass liquid dissolved bubbles grow, floating and released until the visible bubbles are all excluded, for ordinary soda-lime glass, the temperature of this stage is 1400 ~ 1500 ℃ or more.

④ homogenization stage of glass liquid glass liquid for a long time at high temperature, in the kiln body of the temperature difference between the upper and lower glass liquid convection and work flow, such as pulling, so that its chemical composition tends to be the same. This can be identified by determining whether the refractive index or density of the glass in different parts is consistent.

⑤ Cooling stage of the glass liquid The glass liquid that has been clarified and homogenized is cooled down until it is cooled to the forming temperature, such as making glass balls, pool kiln access drawing, at this time, the viscosity of the glass liquid is about 102.2Pa's or so.

Each process of glass melting, each with its own characteristics, and closely related, interlaced. Between the solid-phase reaction to the liquid-phase transformation of the gas-phase exclusion and interaction, tend to equilibrate the process.
